Kathleen Carroll, M.Ed., CEO of Brain-Friendly Learning, is a pioneer in holistic approaches to education with a life-long focus on all aspects of wellbeing.

A senior faculty member of Cambridge College and a certified trainer in Accelerated Learning, she has presented all over the USA and abroad in educational settings on subjects such as accelerated learning, creative and critical thinking and problem solving, applications of the multiple intelligences, assessment, science education, and brain-compatible teaching techniques.

She is author of Science for Every Learner, Brain-Compatible Pathways to Scientific Literacy, Science Songs and Stories for the Big Questions, Sing a Song of Science, Classroom Assessment Techniques, A Guide to Great Field Trips and Secrets for Learning, a CD to enhance learning ease and enjoyment in learners of all ages.

As a teacher of teachers for over 25 years, Kathleen Carroll has helped thousands of teachers rekindle their enthusiasm and expand their effectiveness. She does this by assisting teachers to reconnect with the vision that brought them to their vocation and with the unique gifts they wish to offer to contribute to their students’ lives. She shows teachers how to interweave those gifts into any subject they teach. She also supports teachers in expanding their view of the abilities of the learners in front of them. She provides them with myriad strategies to reach into learners’ previously untapped potential.

Kathleen has also served as a consultant to businesses, government agencies and professional organizations such as First Union Bank, the Navy Department, FDIC, Health and Human Services, the U.S. Geological Survey, Performing Arts Society, Bellcore Research, and the National Capitol Speaker’s Association. Her focus has included creative problem solving, interpersonal dynamics, expanding human potential, authentic assessment, and brain-friendly curriculum design.

She is a certified facilitator of specialized kinesiology, working privately with clients to remove stress on personal and professional issues and to overcome learning blocks. She is also a certified yoga teacher, teaching students of all ages in group and private sessions.

During the course of her career Kathleen has received the President’s Medal of Excellence in Teaching from Trinity College, The Professional Best Leadership Award from Learning Magazine and Oldsmobile, the National Science Teachers’/Ohaus Scales Award for Innovations in Science, Outstanding Teacher of the Gifted and Teacher of the Year. She has also been featured in the New York Times and has been included among Catholic University’s notable alumnae.

Kathleen graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts in psychology from Catholic University. She received a master of education degree from Cambridge College. She is certified in Group Dynamics through a yearlong program with Michael Grinder and Associates. She has over 200 hours of training in creative problem solving through the Creative Problem Solving Institute of Buffalo, NY and Project Renaissance. Her yoga teacher certification is based on over 400 hours of yoga training. Her specialized kinesiology certifications reflect over 1000 hours of training through Three-In-One Concepts and the Dawson Program of Vibrational Kinesiology.
